5 Questions with Philip Steiger ("Trash Scab")

1) Can you talk briefly about your background, and how you first got interested in filmmaking?

I am from Western Mass. I couldn't keep up with the skateboarders so I had to get a camera and big wheels on my board to be the camera boy.

2) What was the initial idea for this project and how did it evolve from there?

The initial idea was to capture the domino effect of urban decay.

3) What was the biggest challenge in making this film? And the easiest part?

The biggest challenge was shooting in LA during a pandemic with no permits, schedule or clue if this was gonna work. The easiest part was working with great friends Ben Mullen (DP) and Zach Milller (PD) and knowing it was just for fun.

4) What’s a film you’ve seen recently, new or old, that you really loved and why?

I really love Some Kind of Monster, I love it because I can't believe it’s allowed to be seen by the public.

5) What’s next for you?

I am trying to convince anyone and everyone to watch Trash Scab and help me make another one.
